Ulsan City Launches "Enhanced Safety Management Support Project for Industrial Complex Workers"

Support for Portable Air Conditioners for Small Businesses in Industrial Complexes to Combat Heat Waves
Applications Open from May 26 to 30 for Companies with Fewer Than 30 Employees in Industrial Complexes

Ulsan City is launching a program to provide portable air conditioners for workers at small businesses in local industrial complexes to help them cope with heat waves.

From May 26 to May 30, the city will be accepting applications from small businesses interested in participating in the "Heat Wave Response: Enhanced Safety Management Support Project for Industrial Complex Workers." The initiative aims to promote the health and safety of industrial complex workers during the peak heat season.

The project is designed to improve working conditions within industrial complexes and prevent heat-related illnesses. It will provide industrial portable air conditioners and professional safety training to workers at small businesses who are particularly vulnerable to heat waves.

Last year, as part of a pilot project, the city provided cooling vests and ventilated helmet liners. However, a satisfaction survey of participating companies revealed that many requested more effective temperature-reducing equipment.

In response, Ulsan City has changed the support item to "industrial portable air conditioners" this year and increased the budget from 15 million won to 20 million won.

Eligible applicants are companies operating registered factories with 30 or fewer employees in national, general, or agro-industrial complexes in the Ulsan area.

Applications can be submitted to the Ulsan Safety Development Association by email or fax from 9:00 a.m. on May 26 to 6:00 p.m. on May 30.

Application forms can be downloaded from the "Industrial Complex Safety Data Room" on the Ulsan City website.

Applications will be reviewed through a first-round document screening and a second-round on-site inspection. To ensure fairness among industrial complexes, a maximum of two companies per complex will be given priority in selection.

Selected companies will receive one industrial portable air conditioner (worth approximately 2.1 million won) with a 90% subsidy, meaning that companies only need to cover 10% of the total cost.

Additionally, one free heat safety training session for workers will be provided.

For more details, visit the notice section of the Ulsan City website, or contact the Ulsan Safety Development Association or the Social Disaster and Industrial Safety Division of Ulsan City.

An official from Ulsan City stated, "With another unusual heat wave forecast for this year, we hope this initiative will help prevent heat-related illnesses among industrial workers and improve operational efficiency for businesses. Since significant benefits can be achieved with a small investment, we encourage many small businesses in industrial complexes to actively apply. We will also consider increasing the budget so that more small businesses can benefit in the future."
