"I Couldn't Believe It Was Real"... 80 Bundles of Bottled Water Returned Amid 30-Degree Heat

Return Request for 80 Bundles of 2-Liter Bottled Water
Delivery Driver Shares Frustration

As temperatures across the country soar above 30 degrees Celsius, a story has emerged about a delivery driver who had to transport "80 bundles of bottled water."

Recently, an individual identified as A, who works as a Coupang Quick Flexer, shared on their thread, "Today, I received a return request for a total of 80 bundles of 2-liter bottled water, with each bundle containing six bottles, from a single household." Coupang Quick Flexers are specially contracted delivery workers who receive assignments from subcontractors of Coupang Logistics Service (CLS).

He explained, "It was so unprecedented that I doubted it at first, but just in case, I contacted the customer to confirm, and it turned out the return request was real." He added, "It's only May, but the weather is already so hot and I'm exhausted." It was confirmed that the customer made the return request after mistakenly ordering the wrong quantity.

The accompanying photo shows bundles of '2-liter bottled water, six bottles per bundle,' each weighing 12kg, stacked in front of the door. Since each bundle weighs 12kg, the total weight of 80 bundles is 960kg, which is about 1 ton.

A commented, "They said they requested the return because they made a mistake with the order quantity. The payment amount must have been enormous. It's almost a 1-ton return. I think there should be a way to refuse returns or at least set a reasonable limit. What are the delivery and collection drivers supposed to do when a 1-ton return is requested?"

After seeing this, another delivery driver remarked, "When water is returned, it is simply discarded. Please be careful when ordering water. A simple slip of the finger causes a lot of people to suffer: the delivery driver, the person handling the return, the worker processing the return, and the one disposing of it after the return is completed. Carrying and moving all of this is no small task."

Netizens responded with comments such as, "What reason could there be for ordering that much bottled water and then returning it?", "The driver who unloaded all of that must have had a hard time, and now they have to load it all back into the truck?what a struggle," and "This is just too much." One netizen argued that bottled water should be designated as a non-returnable item, saying, "For returns due to a simple change of mind, a cancellation fee should be charged."
