The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (headed by Koo Chungon, hereinafter referred to as Gwangyang FEZ Authority) announced on May 22 that it has been promoting the industrial infrastructure and investment environment of the Gwangyang Bay area to promising domestic and international companies at the 'Busan International Machinery Fair,' which has been taking place at BEXCO in Busan for four days starting from May 20.

Celebrating its 12th edition this year, the Busan International Machinery Fair is the largest specialized exhibition for the machinery industry in Korea. It is co-hosted by the Busan Metropolitan City, the Busan Machinery Industry Cooperative, and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). This year, more than 550 companies from 30 countries are participating, and over 80,000 visitors are expected to attend.

The Gwangyang FEZ Authority, along with its Hadong office, visited the event venue in person to introduce the investment environment and industrial infrastructure of the Gwangyang Bay area to domestic companies specializing in robotics and environmental technology, such as Maro Robot Tech Co., Ltd. and Starwells Co., Ltd. They also discussed the potential for future cooperation and possible relocation to the area.

In particular, the Hadong district, which is being developed around the Galsaman Shipbuilding Industrial Complex and the Daesong Industrial Complex, offers optimal conditions as an industrial cluster where shipbuilding equipment, metal processing, and eco-friendly energy companies can concentrate. These features are sufficient to attract interest from related companies.

Koo Chungon, head of the authority, stated, "The Gwangyang Bay area is home to secondary battery and chemical companies that require automated facilities, as well as steel companies that need precise metal processing, making it an ideal location for small and medium-sized enterprises in the robotics and environmental sectors. We will do our utmost to actively attract promising companies."
