Busan National University and Korea Construction Machinery Research Institute Sign MOU
Joint R&D, Talent Development, and Industry-Academia Collaboration for Future Mobility Innovation
The two pillars of advanced machinery technology and practical application in the industrial field have come together. On May 22, Busan National University (President Choi Jaewon) and the Korea Construction Machinery Research Institute (Director Chae Kyunam) signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in research and development, testing and evaluation, and the cultivation of specialized talent. With this agreement, the two institutions have embarked on a joint initiative aimed at driving innovation in future mobility, going beyond the construction machinery industry.

The signing ceremony was held that morning in Meeting Room 1 on the 5th floor of the main administration building at Busan National University.
Through the agreement, the two institutions have committed to actively pursue joint research in advanced mobility, defense, and robotics; testing and evaluation of related technologies and products; development and operation of educational programs for training specialized personnel; and talent cultivation programs directly linked to employment.
This partnership aims to establish an "effective technology ecosystem" that goes beyond simple technological collaboration by combining practical validation from the industrial field with academic foundations. Busan National University plans to leverage its academic expertise in advanced machinery, while the Korea Construction Machinery Research Institute will strengthen collaboration based on its technological capabilities in the field and its ability to integrate policy.
In particular, the two institutions are emphasizing "joint technology development that extends beyond conventional construction machinery to future-oriented mobility industries." This includes convergent future technologies such as autonomous driving, eco-friendly powertrains, and robotic application technologies.
Additionally, under the agreement, the two sides will jointly develop specialized, practice-oriented educational programs and introduce a structure that directly links program graduates to actual employment. This will enable the full operation of a "talent development platform connected to employment," aligning industrial demand with education.
A representative from Busan National University stated, "This will be a practical collaboration that breaks down the boundaries between academia and industry," adding, "We expect not only technological innovation but also meaningful achievements in strengthening the nation's talent competitiveness."
The Korea Construction Machinery Research Institute also commented, "Building on this agreement, we will develop this partnership into a model that drives progress not only in the construction machinery industry but across the entire K-mobility sector."
