Sales Revenue Down 2.2%, Operating Profit Up 0.7%, Net Profit Down 8.1% for 55 Daegu Listed Companies

According to an analysis of consolidated financial results by the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairperson Park Yunkyung) for 55 publicly listed companies in the Daegu region (22 KOSPI-listed companies and 33 KOSDAQ-listed companies), the total sales revenue of these companies in the first quarter of 2025 amounted to 21.3939 trillion won, representing a decrease of 2.2% (down 486.9 billion won) compared to the first quarter of 2024.


Operating profit was 1.2407 trillion won, an increase of 0.7% (up 8.1 billion won) year-on-year, while net profit for the period was 721 billion won, a decrease of 8.1% (down 63.5 billion won) compared to the same period last year.

The top three companies by sales revenue in the first quarter of 2025 remained unchanged from the first quarter of 2024: Korea Gas Corporation (12.8107 trillion won), iM Financial Holdings Co., Ltd. (2.1265 trillion won), and SL Co., Ltd. (1.2458 trillion won). The top 10 companies accounted for 87.1% of the total quarterly sales revenue of all publicly listed companies in the Daegu region. There were a total of three companies (5.5%) with quarterly sales exceeding 1 trillion won, and 21 companies (38.2%) with sales exceeding 100 billion won.


For KOSPI-listed companies, first quarter sales revenue decreased by 2.6% (down 510.3 billion won) year-on-year. Operating profit and net profit for the period also decreased by 1.6% (down 18.1 billion won) and 14.1% (down 94.6 billion won), respectively. In contrast, KOSDAQ-listed companies saw first quarter sales revenue increase by 1.1% (up 23.4 billion won) and net profit for the period rise by 27.7% (up 31.1 billion won) compared to the same period last year. However, operating profit for KOSDAQ-listed companies decreased by 8.5% (down 10 billion won).


By industry, sales revenue decreased in construction (down 19.5%), finance (down 13.7%), manufacturing (down 1.9%), and electricity and gas (down 0.4%), while it increased in transportation (up 5.6%) and distribution (up 1.3%).


Among the 42 manufacturing companies, sales revenue increased in machinery and metal (up 0.3%), auto parts (up 4.1%), electrical, electronics, and semiconductors (up 12.4%), and medical and bio (up 17.0%). However, it decreased in materials and chemicals (down 6.7%), secondary batteries (down 35.3%), and textiles (down 48.8%).


Compared to the same period last year, 30 companies (54.5%) saw an increase in sales revenue, while 25 companies (45.5%) experienced a decrease. In terms of operating profit, 27 companies (49.1%) reported an increase, while 28 companies (50.9%) saw a decrease. For net profit, 26 companies (47.3%) recorded an increase, whereas 29 companies (52.7%) reported a decrease.


The companies with the highest increases in sales revenue were Isu Petasys Co., Ltd. (up 52.9 billion won), Sambo Motors Co., Ltd. (up 41.7 billion won), and Daesung Holdings Co., Ltd. (up 31.5 billion won).


The number of companies posting a net profit for the period was 34, a decrease of 16.4 percentage points (9 companies) compared to the same period last year. Of these, 33 companies (60.0%) continued to post profits, one company (1.8%) turned to profit, 11 companies (20.0%) continued to post losses, and 10 companies (18.2%) turned to loss.
