Temporary Opening of Alternative Road
Residents Expected to Move In During the Second Half of the Year
A large apartment complex in front of Yongin City Hall in Gyeonggi Province, which had been left unused for more than four years after construction was completed due to the lack of an access road, has finally opened an entry road.

On May 22, Yongin City announced that it had temporarily opened the access road to the 'Yongin Samga Hillstate' apartment complex, located at 447-4 Samga-dong, Cheoin-gu.
Situated across from Yongin City Hall, this apartment complex is a 'New Stay' development with 1,950 units, built by a company for rental purposes rather than general sale. 'New Stay' refers to a type of corporate rental apartment where tenants can reside for up to eight years if they wish. After the mandatory rental period ends, the company can either convert the units for sale or continue renting them out.
However, despite completing construction in February 2021, the apartment complex was unable to secure an access road and had been left idle for over four years. The original plan was to build an access road passing through the Yeoksam District, a designated urban development area, but conflicts and disputes among the Yeoksam District association members caused the plan to fall apart.
Yongin City stepped in as the problem solver to prevent this complex from becoming an urban eyesore due to the lack of a single road. Mayor Lee Sangil decided to create an alternative road instead of the originally planned access road after discussions with the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, shortly after the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration.
Subsequently, the city reached an agreement with Yongin Urban Corporation and the project developer to construct an alternative access road for the complex, leading to the temporary opening achieved this time.
A city official stated, "With the temporary opening of the alternative road, the previously halted administrative procedures have resumed, and it is expected that residents will be able to move in starting from the second half of this year."
Mayor Lee said, "Now that access to the apartment is available, we will ensure that all necessary administrative procedures are carried out smoothly so that those wishing to move in can do so without difficulty."
