According to Seogu District on May 22, the Ministry of Health and Welfare conducted a comprehensive evaluation of all local governments nationwide, assessing their performance during the intensive period for identifying welfare blind spots in winter, the level of public-private cooperation, and independent discovery efforts. As a result, 23 local governments, including Seogu District in Gwangju, were selected as excellent institutions.

To address welfare blind spots, Seogu District has made efforts such as regular welfare checks through the 'Our Neighborhood Care Team,' comprehensive surveys and deep-cleaning support for households suspected of hoarding disorder, and field surveys and campaigns targeting homeless individuals.

In addition, based on public-private cooperation, Seogu District has provided practical support to identify households at risk of solitary death, including the 'Life Drawing' art therapy program, welfare registered mail services in collaboration with the post office, medical expense support projects in partnership with local welfare centers, and the issuance of outing-encouragement coupons through partnerships with 'Good Stores.'

District Mayor Kim Ikang stated, "It is meaningful that the various welfare policies we have pursued together with the public and private sectors to eliminate welfare blind spots have led to such positive results," adding, "We will continue our efforts to make Seogu a district with zero welfare gaps, where no neighbor is left behind."
