Mega City Policy Discussion to Be Held at DJ Center on the 23rd
Joint Development of Energy and Carbon Neutrality Measures to Be Discussed
On May 22, the city of Gwangju announced that it will hold a "Policy Discussion for Energy Transition Cooperation in the Honam Region" at 2:00 p.m. on May 23 at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju, together with Jeonnam Province and Jeonbuk Province, to discuss ways to cooperate on energy in the Honam region.
This discussion is a follow-up measure to the declaration of the "Honam Mega City Economic Alliance" in July last year and the agreement in March this year, which specified the priority use of renewable energy within the region and the joint development of energy sources.
In addition to officials from the three cities and provinces, experts from related organizations such as the Gwangju Climate and Energy Agency, Gwangju and Jeonbuk Technoparks, the Green Energy Research Institute, and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute will attend the discussion to engage in policy talks aimed at joint development in the energy sector and establishing a foundation for ultra-wide-area cooperation.
The main topics of discussion will include: ▲Establishing an ultra-wide-area energy community in the Honam region ▲Strategies for linking mega city advanced industry development projects ▲Plans for the joint development and shared use of renewable energy to achieve carbon neutrality.
The city plans to use this discussion as an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation system for energy transition among Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Jeonbuk, and to continue implementing effective energy policies linked to the industrial characteristics of each region.
Park Junsik, Director of the Energy Industry Division, said, "This discussion will be a meaningful time for the Honam region to seek solutions together for the future challenge of energy transition," and added, "If we cooperate by leveraging the strengths of each region, we can become partners leading the era of energy transition together."
