Samsung Leads the All-in-One Washer Dryer Market
Seong Jonghun: "We Have Changed the Domestic Market Landscape"
Sold in Over 43 Countries Worldwide, Expansion Underway
Samsung Electronics' all-in-one washer dryer, the 'Bespoke Artificial Intelligence (AI) Combo,' has surpassed cumulative sales of 100,000 units within one year of its launch, performing strongly in the washer dryer market.
On the morning of the 22nd, Samsung Electronics held a briefing at its press room in Jung-gu, Seoul, and announced that domestic cumulative sales reached 100,000 units from February last year to May this year. Samsung Electronics explained that, on average, more than 230 units of the washer dryer were sold each day. Seong Jonghun, Executive Director of Samsung Electronics' Consumer Appliances (DA) Division, stated, "The 'Bespoke AI Combo,' which was developed by reflecting consumer feedback, has changed the landscape of the domestic market within just one year of its launch."
Recently, the popularity of all-in-one washer dryer products has been steadily increasing in the domestic washer and dryer market. An all-in-one washer dryer is an appliance that handles both washing and drying in a single unit, allowing for more efficient use of space compared to installing a separate washer and dryer. According to Samsung Electronics' own estimates, the share of integrated washer dryers in the domestic washer and dryer market rose from 14.1% in the first half of last year to 21.6% in the second half.
As competition among companies intensifies, the industry consensus is that Samsung Electronics has secured an early lead in the market. Samsung Electronics first launched the integrated washer dryer Bespoke AI Combo in February last year, and in March this year, it unveiled the 2025 model with enhanced performance and convenience features. Executive Director Seong emphasized, "According to our internal research, Samsung Electronics holds a 70% market share in the domestic integrated washer dryer market." However, competitor LG Electronics estimates its own market share for washer dryer sales at 55%.

During the briefing, technical explanations were provided regarding the products launched this year. Executive Director Seong explained, "To improve drying performance, we maintained the size of the heat exchanger but arranged the fins more densely than before, expanding the heat transfer area by 8.5%." He added, "A larger heat transfer area allows moisture in the hot, humid air passing through the laundry to be removed more quickly."
The drying algorithm has also been improved to optimally control the drum's operating speed and temperature according to the amount of laundry. In addition, a 'duct' system, which optimizes airflow by channeling air or steam, has been applied. The air that passes through the clothes circulates directly to the heat exchanger through a duct embedded in the back of the product, thereby improving drying efficiency. Samsung Electronics also highlighted that using the new product's 'Quick Course' allows the entire washing and drying process to be completed in 79 minutes, which is 20 minutes shorter than the previous model. With a top-tier energy efficiency rating, the new model also significantly reduces power consumption compared to its predecessor.

The Bespoke AI Combo is currently being sold in approximately 43 countries around the world. After entering more than 30 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany last year, Samsung Electronics plans to expand sales to 45 countries this year, including India, Turkey, and South Africa. In particular, Samsung Electronics is targeting the North American market with the 'Bespoke AI Vent Combo,' which features a 'vented' drying method preferred by American consumers. The vented method dries clothes by heating air with a heater and expelling the moisture outside the product, and about 90% of households in North America use vented dryers.
Samsung Electronics also announced plans to launch a super-premium line called the 'Infinite AI Combo' this year. The Infinite AI Combo is a premium washer dryer product characterized by its robust durability and design, utilizing materials such as aluminum, ceramic, and stainless steel. Executive Director Seong emphasized, "We will continue to develop innovative products through ongoing technological advancement, aiming to more than double our sales both domestically and internationally."
