JNTC, which is preparing to become a global leader in advanced materials, officially announced on May 22 that it has completed Korea's first dedicated semiconductor glass substrate factory with a monthly production capacity of 10,000 units, declaring its full-scale entry into the market for its next-generation growth engine. This move is part of the company's efforts to establish a foundation for securing a leading position in the global market, and actual revenue is expected to be generated starting in the second half of the year through mass production shipments to customers.
Since officially entering the semiconductor glass substrate business in April last year, JNTC has signed NDAs with a total of 16 global customers and is now providing customized samples tailored to each client’s needs. In early May, the company also completed the absorption merger of its subsidiary COMET, which specializes in plating and etching processes, thereby achieving vertical integration of all production processes. By internalizing these core technologies into equipment developed by its affiliate JNTE, JNTC has significantly enhanced its quality and cost competitiveness.
A company representative stated, "The recently completed production line is located in the Mado Industrial Complex in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, and has a maximum monthly production capacity of 10,000 units. Starting in the second half of the year, shipments of mass production volumes to some customers are expected to generate substantial revenue." The representative added, "In the fourth quarter of this year, we plan to proactively respond to rising demand from global customers by expanding large-scale production lines at our local subsidiary in Vietnam."
The company representative also noted, "We believe that the rapidly growing glass substrate business will become a new mid- to long-term growth pillar for JNTC. In addition to semiconductor glass substrates, we are preparing a variety of high value-added semiconductor and AI-related products. As a result, we expect to take on a very important role as a global leader in the AI-driven semiconductor market in the future."
JNTC CEO Cho Namhyuk stated, "We plan to share more details about our new businesses, including the TGV glass substrate business, at our corporate briefing scheduled for June 30 at the KRX Conference Hall. Starting in the second half of this year, we will rapidly evolve into a global leader in advanced materials by developing various new AI-based business models centered on TGV glass substrates and transitioning to full-scale mass production."
