Sahmyook University and Namwon City Sign MOU for Youth Exchange and Regional Revitalization

Sahmyook University announced on May 23 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Namwon City, Jeonbuk, to promote youth exchange and regional revitalization.

This agreement was initiated as part of the convergence education program "Green Bean Cafe - A Cup Embracing the Earth," operated by the Department of Creative Convergence Liberal Arts at Sahmyook University. The project focuses on eco-friendly values and regional coexistence, offering students a hands-on curriculum in which they visit local sites, plan brands, and experience the process of starting a business.

The signing ceremony, held at Namwon City Hall on May 14, was attended by Je Haejong, President of Sahmyook University, Kim Yongseon, Vice President, Choi Kyungsik, Mayor of Namwon, and other representatives from both institutions. They agreed to develop youth experience and education programs utilizing local resources and to establish a sustainable model for mutual growth between the region and the university.

Students will experience social economy models based on eco-friendly farm restaurants and the local food culture of Namwon, learning firsthand about sustainable consumption as practiced by the local community. They will also explore Namwon’s traditional culture and tourism resources by visiting Gwanghallu Garden, Kim Byungjong Art Museum, and local traditional performances.

During the field study, students will receive practical advice on brand building and ethical management through lectures by local young entrepreneurs. Based on this, each team will design a cafe brand story, develop menus, create logo designs, and devise digital marketing strategies.

Je Haejong, President of Sahmyook University, stated, "The Green Bean Cafe project will serve as a model case for practical learning that combines local resources and education. Through our collaboration with Namwon City, we will actively support students in gaining meaningful on-site experiences and growing into talents who create social value."

Choi Kyungsik, Mayor of Namwon, said, "We will help the younger generation gain a deep understanding of Namwon’s traditions and culture and create a new model of cooperation for mutual growth between the local community and the university. Through our partnership with Sahmyook University, we will work to promote youth exchange and regional development."
