On the 21st, Hyundai Elevator held a completion ceremony for Hyundai Asan Tower at its headquarters in Chungju, attended by over 200 people, including Hyun Jeong-eun, Chairwoman of Hyundai Group, Cho Jaecheon, CEO, Kim Young-hwan, Governor of North Chungcheong Province, Cho Gil-hyung, Mayor of Chungju, Lee Jong-bae, National Assembly member, and other key local figures.

Chairwoman Hyun stated, "Asan Tower is a precious space that brings together the technology and trust Hyundai Elevator has built over the past 40 years," adding, "Recalling Chairman Chung Mong-hun's words that 'technology is made by people,' I hope Asan Tower becomes the essence of technology for people."

After relocating its headquarters to Chungju in February 2022, Hyundai Elevator had been utilizing its test tower in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. With the completion of Asan Tower, the company plans to fully relocate all R&D facilities.

Asan Tower has been significantly expanded in both height and scale compared to the previous test tower (205m). Its height, measured at the upper gondola, reaches 250 meters, ranking among the global top three. The interior can accommodate up to 19 elevators for simultaneous testing, an increase of more than five units from the previous capacity of 14.

The tower is equipped with a variety of elevators, including the world's fastest ultra-high-speed elevator with a speed of 1,260 meters per minute, double-deck elevators, observation elevators, and drop test devices, enabling a wide range of tests and research and development activities.

The R&D Center inside Asan Tower houses approximately 160 resident researchers. The scale has been greatly expanded from two floors to three. To honor the legacy of the late Chairman Chung Mong-hun, who emphasized the importance of technology, the nameplate and research institute name of the 'Chung Monghun R&D Center' previously located in Icheon have been relocated to the new site, adding further significance.

CEO Cho Jaecheon stated, "Asan Tower will be a space that provides answers to the unpredictable future and serves as a foundation for new leaps forward amid a changing global business environment," adding, "We will transform into a 'mobility innovation company for people' that connects technology, people, and society."
