Oisolution announced on May 21 that the company is expected to enter a phase of significant performance growth in line with the global expansion of telecommunications infrastructure. In recent years, the company has diversified its product lineup and focused on securing new overseas customers to overcome sluggish performance.
To address declining sales caused by reduced investment in the 5G wireless network market and a sales portfolio concentrated on a few clients, Oisolution expanded its lineup to include coherent long-haul optical transceivers, tunable optical transceivers, and products for FTTH and MSO CATV. The company is now actively expanding into the wired network market. These products are expected to serve as a stable mid- to long-term revenue base, as the wired network market is larger and has less demand volatility compared to the wireless network market.
With the advent of the artificial intelligence (AI) era and the resulting surge in data transmission demand, the importance of optical transceivers for high-speed and high-capacity communications is becoming increasingly prominent. These components are also essential for building future technology infrastructures such as 5G and 6G communications and quantum cryptography communications.
Oisolution is expected to benefit from the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure investments in major countries such as the United States and Japan. In the United States, under the leadership of the Biden administration, the 'Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD)' program is being actively promoted, with a total investment of $42.45 billion (approximately KRW 6.15 trillion) to build a nationwide high-speed broadband network by 2030. This program is creating new opportunities not only for traditional telecommunications infrastructure leaders but also for optical communication component suppliers. Oisolution is currently supplying high-difficulty tunable optical transceivers to U.S. wired network equipment companies.
The company has also achieved notable results in the Japanese market. Oisolution has demonstrated its technological capabilities and production capacity by supplying large quantities of 10G EPON OLT optical transceivers for FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) to NTT, Japan's largest telecommunications operator. The Japanese FTTH market is characterized by strong demand and stable growth. This year alone, the company expects to generate over KRW 10 billion in new sales from these products. In response to customer requests, Oisolution is doubling the production capacity (CAPA) for these products and plans to ramp up production in the second half of the year.
A representative from Oisolution stated, "By diversifying our product lineup and expanding our global customer base, we have established a more stable growth foundation, moving away from a revenue structure centered solely on 5G. We expect our global competitiveness to be further strengthened as major countries, including the United States and Japan, continue to advance their telecommunications networks and increase investments in optical communication infrastructure."
