'Leap Toward a Regional Innovation Hub'... Chosun University RISE Project Group in Full Operation

'Leap Toward a Regional Innovation Hub'... Chosun University RISE Project Group in Full Operation Chosun University campus.

Chosun University announced on May 21 that the RISE Project Group recently held the "RISE Project Performance Enhancement and Dissemination Strategy Meeting" to fully internalize and activate the implementation system of the Regional Innovation-led University Support System (RISE).

This meeting was organized to strengthen the internal foundation for promoting the RISE project and to engage in in-depth discussions on collaborative measures for achieving project goals and identifying best practices. Participants shared updates on the project's progress and exchanged a wide range of opinions, focusing on future strategies and ways to connect different institutions.

The RISE Project Group appointed Vice President Jeon Jeyul as the head of the project and established four centers: the Local Talent Development Center, the Corporate Co-Growth Center, the Regional Collaboration Center, and the University Resource Sharing Center. Each center is led by an executive-level faculty member, creating a system that consolidates the university's overall capabilities.

These centers plan to play a strategic role in building a self-sustaining regional development model, based on connections with Gwangju's leading industries. Their key areas include local talent development, fostering a startup and demonstration ecosystem, supporting technology development and commercialization, and improving the quality of life for local residents.

The Chosun University RISE project has set its vision as "a university that cultivates local talent based on super-gap technological innovation to lead the region's future transformation." It is currently pursuing ten detailed tasks under four main strategies: innovating the local-oriented education system, creating value through technology-driven industry-academia-research collaboration, innovating the local living environment in partnership with the region, and building an open innovation ecosystem.

Chosun University is building strategic partnerships with key local institutions and promising companies, including the Gwangju Future Mobility Promotion Institute, Gwangju Creative Economy Innovation Center, Gwangju Technopark I-Plex, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), Gwangju Employers Federation, Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Howon Co., Ltd., and Korea Alps Co., Ltd. The university plans to identify and promote best practices that will lead the regional innovation ecosystem.

Jeon Jeyul, head of the RISE Project Group, stated, "The RISE project goes beyond a simple university development plan; it is a process of creating a sustainable innovation ecosystem that breathes with the local community and solves problems together. Through this meeting, all university members have come to share a common vision and sense of responsibility, and preparations for developing a self-sustaining regional innovation model have been completed."
