'How Is the Local Livelihood Economy?'... Gwangju District Mayors' Council Holds Regular Meeting at Traditional Market

The Gwangju District Mayors' Council announced that it held its regular May meeting on the 21st at Namgwangju Market, visiting the market and encouraging the merchants.

This meeting was held at the traditional market, a symbolic space for the local economy, with the aim of field-oriented communication and revitalizing the region. During the meeting, key issues of the five autonomous districts were discussed.

District mayors, including Lim Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, Gwangju, communicated directly with market merchants to listen to their concerns and monitor the livelihood economy. They also had breakfast with about 40 staff members at a restaurant inside the market.

The Gwangju District Mayors' Council has jointly discussed and promoted various policies to respond to the economic downturn and livelihood crisis. In particular, during the last Lunar New Year holiday, the council implemented a special policy by allocating additional budgets for each autonomous district to the local currency, the Gwangju Sangsaeng Card, providing up to a 10% discount and realizing citizen-oriented support measures.

Lim Taek, Chair of the Gwangju District Mayors' Council, stated, "Namgwangju Market is a place where the daily lives of citizens unfold and the vibrancy of the local commercial district is fully embodied. We will continue to identify policy partnerships and practical measures to help revitalize the local economy."
