According to the county on May 21, this evaluation targeted 15 Urban Saetteul Village Project sites in the province that were selected between 2019 and 2023. The assessment comprehensively reviewed the project implementation system, resident participation, feasibility of plans, physical outcomes, and post-management.
The Namgye District Saetteul Village Project was selected through a public contest by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2020, and a total of 4.3 billion KRW was invested in the project from 2021 to 2024 to improve living infrastructure.
This project focused on comprehensively improving the residential environment, sanitation, and village safety conditions in the Namgye Village area of Sunchang-eup. It went beyond simply expanding basic infrastructure and made a significant contribution to substantially improving residents' quality of life.
Through the project, old houses in the area were repaired and unsanitary roofs were renovated to create a more pleasant living environment. In addition, old and dangerous walls scattered throughout the village were repaired, and small parking lots were installed at village entrances and main passageways to resolve parking inconveniences.
The county installed CCTV cameras in previously neglected safety blind spots and created rest areas that can be used for relaxation and communication among residents, thereby restoring community-centered spaces.
New shared facilities for residents were established, and activities to strengthen the foundation for community self-reliance were carried out in parallel, such as educational programs for capacity building, field trips to advanced sites, and nurturing village leaders during the project process.
Choi Youngil, the county governor, said, "This achievement is not just the result of the administration, but also thanks to the active interest and participation of local residents. We will continue to do our best to actively attract government-funded projects in the future, improve the quality of life for county residents, and achieve sustainable regional development."
Meanwhile, this "Excellent" grade is expected to serve as an important criterion for awarding extra points in the selection of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport projects in 2025, providing Sunchang County with an opportunity to secure a more advantageous position in various future urban regeneration and regional revitalization projects.
