More than 130 members of the Chungcheongnam-do Medical Association declared their support for Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party candidate, on the 21st, describing him as "the right person who can reflect the realities of the medical field, gather the wisdom of experts, and put it into action."
At a press conference held at the Chungnam Provincial Government Press Center that day, they emphasized, "Considering Kim Moonsoo's long political experience, his record as an administrative leader, and his unique upright and transparent leadership, we believe that Kim Moonsoo is equipped with the ability to restore the current difficulties facing the medical field."
Cho Sungwook, Vice President of the Chungnam Medical Association, appealed, "During the Yoon Suk Yeol administration's push for medical reform, the pursuit of policies without sufficient evidence and the lack of communication with the medical community led to severe social conflict and confusion. We are all still enduring the aftereffects of this."
He continued, "We firmly believe that, based on the lessons learned from the previous administration, Kim Moonsoo will pursue reasonable and sustainable healthcare policies through sincere dialogue and cooperation with medical professionals in the future."
Vice President Cho added, "We highly value Kim Moonsoo's pledge to rebuild the collapsed medical system within six months, as it represents a promise to review the current government's medical reform from the ground up and a commitment to restore the broken healthcare system."
He also stated, "The establishment of a Presidential Committee on Future Healthcare and the formation of an expert-centered consultative body could help reflect the opinions of those working in the medical field. We believe this will serve as a hopeful starting point to correct the distorted direction of healthcare policy."
Previously, on the 20th, another group of more than 130 members of the Chungcheongnam-do Medical Association held a press conference at Cheonan City Hall to declare their support for Lee Jaemyung, the Democratic Party candidate.
