Listening to the Concerns of Farmers and Nursery Staff
On May 20, 2025, in the midst of the full-scale farming season, Yeongam County Governor Woo Seunghee visited the Wolchulsan Agricultural Cooperative’s rice joint nursery, which is increasing productivity through large-scale joint seedling cultivation, labor reduction, and uniform rice quality, to inspect the site.
The seven joint nurseries in Yeongam County, including the Wolchulsan Agricultural Cooperative, are currently operating a total of 650,000 seedling trays. These trays are mainly supplied to approximately 3,000 hectares of small-scale and elderly farmers’ rice fields.
After being briefed on the operation of the joint nursery that day, Governor Woo checked the condition of the seedlings and listened to the concerns of farmers and nursery staff while conversing with them.
Governor Woo Seunghee said, “I would like to thank everyone who continues to support the agricultural sector despite difficult conditions such as climate change and labor shortages in rural areas. Yeongam County will spare no effort in providing support to establish a stable farming foundation and increase farm household income.”
