Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center Earns "Excellent" in Public Institution Customer Satisfaction Survey... "Patient-Centered Services Lead to Results"

Efforts to Expand Essential Medical Services and Improve Service Quality

Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center (Director Changhoon Lee) received the highest rating of "Excellent" in the "2024 Public Institution Customer Satisfaction Survey (PCSI)" organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance has been evaluating customer satisfaction at public institutions annually since 1999 to enhance public convenience. This year, a total of 182 institutions were included in the survey.

Among them, 18 were medical institutions. Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center recorded a score of 90, significantly surpassing the average score of 85.1, and ranked among the top medical institutions. This is an increase of 0.4 points compared to the previous year and 1.5 points higher than the average for the past three years.

The evaluation criteria consisted of ▲overall customer satisfaction (40%), ▲quality of medical care and services (30%), ▲comparison with services at other institutions (20%), and ▲fulfillment of social responsibility (10%). The survey was conducted via phone and email with citizens who had actual experience using public services.

Director Changhoon Lee commented on the results, saying, "Despite challenges such as conflicts in the medical field and an increase in waiting patients, all staff worked together to strengthen patient-centered services. In particular, friendliness and the advance information provision system seem to have received high marks."

In practice, Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center has actively pursued expansion of medical staff, extension of essential medical departments, and improvements to communication-centered services. Despite an increase in patient visits, the focus on maintaining medical quality and enhancing customer satisfaction is believed to have had a positive impact.

However, there were also opinions that some improvements are needed regarding bed shortages, outdated facilities, and long waiting times. In response, Director Lee stated, "We will make every effort to improve our infrastructure by expanding to a 500-bed facility and introducing a proton therapy machine, so that local patients do not have to travel to the Seoul metropolitan area."

As a public medical institution specializing in cancer treatment, Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center aims to provide comprehensive essential medical care in the future and plans to continue playing a pivotal role in addressing medical gaps and improving the quality of public healthcare in the region.
