AI Collects Evidence and Files Deletion Reports
Emails Generated in Seven Languages
Seoul City has developed the nation's first system in which AI locates digital sex crime videos distributed online and automatically supports the reporting and deletion process.
On May 21, Seoul City announced the launch of this 'AI Automatic Deletion Report System.' In 2023, the city collaborated with the Seoul Institute to develop the nation's first 'Digital Sex Crime AI Deletion Support Technology.' The Seoul Digital Sex Crime Support Center utilizes this technology to monitor and support the deletion of illegal videos 24 hours a day.

The AI Automatic Deletion Report System continuously detects victim videos around the clock, automatically collects evidence and generates a report, and then creates a deletion request email to be sent to the relevant website. The deletion support staff reviews and sends the completed report email. This process reduces the time required to locate illegal videos and report them for deletion from the previous 2.5 to 3 hours down to just 6 minutes.
The automatic evidence report feature extracts key content information such as text, images, and URLs, and converts and stores this information as a Hangul (HWP) document, which can later be used as evidence in investigations or legal proceedings.
As cases of victim videos being uploaded to sites with overseas servers have increased recently, the report emails are now generated in seven languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian.
The Seoul Digital Sex Crime Support Center has assisted 3,650 victims over the past three years as of March this year. The total number of support cases is 64,677.
Kim Sunsoon, Director of the Seoul City Women and Family Policy Office, stated, "Seoul City was the first in the nation to introduce AI-based monitoring technology, and now, by introducing technology that enables AI to automatically report deletions, we expect to dramatically reduce the time from detection to reporting. We will continue to do our best to make Seoul a safe city for children and adolescents from digital sex crimes."
