The Daegu city government is recruiting 40 university students with creativity and passion to serve as "Neighborhood Business Supporters" in an effort to revitalize local commercial districts.
The Neighborhood Business Supporters Operation Support Project is being implemented as part of the "Neighborhood Economic Zone Creation Project," which aims to foster and support local commercial districts so that small business owners can become the backbone of the regional economy.
Under this project, a team of four university students will be assigned to each of the 10 neighborhood commercial districts selected through a recruitment and evaluation process. These teams will carry out promotional marketing tailored to the unique characteristics of each district, injecting new energy into every corner of the neighborhoods.
The "Neighborhood Business Supporters" program is being launched for the first time this year. It is significant in that it brings small business owners and university students together to discuss and develop practical solutions for revitalizing local commercial areas.
In particular, the program is expected to contribute to increased sales by developing brand strategies for the districts, discovering storytelling opportunities, producing SNS content, and building smart places?all reflecting the clever and innovative ideas of university students.
Any university student whose residence is in Daegu, or who is enrolled at a university in Daegu (including those on a leave of absence or who have graduated within the past two years), is eligible to apply.
After document screening and interviews, 10 teams of university students (40 people) will be selected. Starting with a kick-off ceremony at the end of June, each team will be matched one-on-one with one of the 10 neighborhood commercial districts. They will conduct differentiated promotional marketing, such as branding and consulting, for two months during July and August.
Participants will receive an activity allowance of 600,000 KRW, and in September, an achievement presentation will be held to award outstanding teams.
The recruitment period runs from May 22 to June 6. Applications can be submitted online (via Naver Form) through the Daegu city government or Daegu Traditional Market Promotion Foundation websites, or by scanning the QR code on the poster.
Park Gihwan, Director of Economic Affairs for Daegu, stated, "We aim to inject new vitality into stagnant neighborhood commercial districts by incorporating youthful perspectives and ideas," adding, "We hope for the enthusiastic participation of passionate university students who will bring about new changes to the local economy."
