Providing Customized Services Closely Related to Daily Life
The "Rural House Call Bus Project" being promoted by Gongju City, Chungnam Province, is contributing to the improvement of rural medical services and is receiving a positive response from local residents.
On May 21, Gongju City announced that the "Rural House Call Bus Project," which has been expanded this year, is progressing smoothly so far.
This project is a visiting medical service that directly reaches rural areas with insufficient medical infrastructure, providing comprehensive health checkups and consultations to residents in areas lacking hospitals, pharmacies, and other medical facilities.
This year, the project is being carried out in cooperation with the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (Nonghyup) and Daejeon Korean Medicine Hospital. The project, which was implemented in six areas last year, has been expanded to seven areas this year, targeting a total of 2,100 people.
According to the city, approximately 900 residents in three areas?Uidang-myeon, Sagok-myeon, and Sinpung-myeon?have benefited from the house call bus services.
The first house call bus this year operated at Uidang Nonghyup on April 15, followed by Sagok Nonghyup on May 13, and Sinpung Nonghyup on May 15.
The medical services provided include general medical care, Korean traditional medicine, dental and oral examinations, vision tests, and various other checkups.
In particular, customized services closely related to daily life, such as providing reading glasses on-site, have led to high satisfaction among residents.
The city plans to operate the house call bus in Tancheon-myeon on June 5 and in Jeongan-myeon on June 26. In the second half of the year, additional operations are scheduled for Yugu-myeon on September 16 and Iin-myeon on September 25.
Mayor Choi Woncheol stated, "The Rural House Call Bus Project is not only about improving access to medical care, but also has great significance in substantially enhancing the quality of life for local residents," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the operation of this project to address gaps in public healthcare."
