Siheung City Conducts Hygiene Inspections of Unmanned Cafes and Retail Outlets

Conducted at 25 Locations Until the 22nd

The city of Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, announced on May 21 that it will conduct hygiene inspections of unmanned cafes and other unmanned retail outlets, which have recently been increasing in number, until May 22.

This inspection will target 25 food service establishments within the city, and will be carried out by a single inspection team consisting of two consumer food hygiene inspectors.


The main inspection items include: ▲ the hygiene management status of workspaces such as fryers and vending machines ▲ whether any products without Korean labeling are being used ▲ whether products past their consumption date are being used or sold ▲ the status of personal hygiene management ▲ the cleaning and disinfection status inside food vending machines and whether inspection checklists are in place.


During the inspection process, the city will also collect beverages such as coffee sold at unmanned cafes to test whether they comply with the standards and specifications for beverages dispensed from food vending machines.


Choi Minseok, head of the hygiene department of Siheung City, stated, "This inspection aims to address blind spots in hygiene management at unmanned retail stores," adding, "If any violations are detected as a result of the inspection, we will take strict action in accordance with relevant laws and regulations."
