Everland's New Garden Rose Variety Makes Debut in Japan: "First in Korea"

Development of New Rose Varieties Since 2013
Exclusive Agreement with Kimura Planning in Japan
"Preparing to Enter European and American Markets"

Everland's independently developed new variety of garden rose has made its debut in Japan for the first time in Korea.

On May 21, Samsung C&T Resort Group's Everland announced that it has recently begun selling its new garden rose variety, Perfume Everscape, in Japan.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of its rose festival this year, Everland has been dedicated to developing new rose varieties since 2013, aiming to offer customers roses that bloom for longer periods and have a delightful fragrance.

The garden rose Perfume Everscape, which has now entered the Japanese market, received high marks for its heat and cold resistance, continuous blooming, robust growth, and fragrance. In 2022, it swept four awards, including the top Gold Prize, at the Gifu World Rose Convention in Japan.

In addition, in 2024, a research paper highlighting Perfume Everscape's outstanding disease resistance and its photoprotection and antioxidant effects was published in the globally renowned SCIE-indexed journal "Chemical and Biological Technologies in Agriculture."

Until now, cut roses for bouquets have been exported abroad, but garden roses, which are planted in the ground and grown continuously, have rarely entered overseas markets because they must withstand temperature fluctuations and pests, making international expansion challenging.

Since 2013, Everland has developed a total of 40 new rose varieties through more than 20,000 artificial cross-breeding attempts, aiming to create roses that are resistant to pests and temperature changes and that continuously bloom with beautiful, fragrant flowers from spring to fall.

By consistently participating in world rose conventions, Everland has promoted the excellence of its roses globally. Winning the top prize at the 2022 Gifu World Rose Convention led to an exclusive sales agreement for Perfume Everscape in Japan with Kimura Planning.

After completing the variety protection application process in Japan, Everland propagated Perfume Everscape grafting branches and, after about two years, began selling them nationwide in Japan starting this year.

Kimura Planning commented, "Perfume Everscape, which is resistant to disease and both heat and cold, is easy for novice gardeners to grow. It is a strong yet beautiful rose that will surely be loved in Japan."

Ha Hosu, a rosarian responsible for developing new rose varieties, stated, "Although there were many challenges over the past decade in presenting excellent roses, I am delighted that so many people can now appreciate the quality of Everland's independently developed roses. We plan to gradually prepare for entry into the European and American markets, which are the home of roses."

To mark the 40th anniversary of the rose festival, Everland is holding the "Everland Rorotea" rose festival until June 15, with a tea party concept in the Rose Garden, where 3 million roses of 720 varieties from around the world are in full bloom.

The 40 rose varieties developed in-house, including Perfume Everscape, can be seen in a dedicated exhibition area called the "Everose Fragrance Zone."
