On May 20 (local time), Garcia was eliminated from the US Open qualifiers held at Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas, Texas, United States. His streak of 26 consecutive appearances was broken because of a single bogey. In the final 36th hole of the 36-hole stroke play qualifier, Garcia made a bogey and failed to join the seven-player playoff. As a result of his elimination from the qualifiers, he will not be able to compete in the US Open, which begins on June 13 at Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States.

Garcia played in the US Open for 25 consecutive years from 2000 to last year. Even last year, he nearly missed the US Open but managed to participate as an alternate. He also set a record of 82 consecutive major championship appearances until he missed the Masters in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Garcia, the 2017 Masters champion, is a veteran with 11 wins on the PGA Tour, 16 wins on the DP World Tour, and 2 wins on LIV Golf.
