Special Exhibition of Italian Fairy Tale Author Giuseppe Vitale at The Gallery Hosu in Songpa District
May 24 - June 25: 30 Original Illustrations and 1 Sculpture Showcasing Fairy Tale Imagination
Songpa District (headed by Mayor Seo Gangseok) announced that it will host the exhibition "LEGAMI The Hosu" by Italian artist and educator Giuseppe Vitale at "The Gallery Hosu," located at Seokchon Lake, from May 24 to June 25, 2025.
This marks the first time since its opening that The Gallery Hosu has planned a special exhibition for children. Moving away from exhibitions focused on adults, the district aims to offer high-quality illustrations filled with fairy tale-like imagination, so that both children and adults can enjoy the experience together.
Giuseppe Vitale is an Italian children's book author and painter who conveys the importance of relationships among family, friends, and the environment through his artworks and various interactive activities. He is also active as an atelierista (Reggio Emilia art educator), and continues to be involved in publishing and art education.
In this exhibition, "LEGAMI The Hosu," "LEGAMI" means "connection" or "bond" in Italian. The exhibition presents works that delicately and warmly depict emotional relationships between people and the continuity of feelings across generations.
The exhibition features a total of 31 works, including 30 original illustration pieces and one sculptural work by the artist. Visitors can experience a world where everyday memories, emotions, and imagination are expressed through delicate brushwork and vibrant colors.
Of particular note is the integration of art and education in this exhibition. One entire wall of the venue (6.4 meters high) has been transformed into a children's activity space themed on the picture book "Four Unique Artists," for which Giuseppe Vitale contributed illustrations.
Children can express their creativity by attaching colorful sponge stickers to the wall based on the artist's illustrations, and families can enjoy reading the storybook together while appreciating the artworks. Additionally, the children's collaborative pieces created during the exhibition will be displayed as part of a joint artwork, adding further meaning to the event.
The gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., including public holidays, and is closed every Monday.
Seo Gangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, stated, "I hope this special children's exhibition at The Gallery Hosu will provide a unique opportunity for children, adults, and families to share emotions and restore bonds through art," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to create an environment where all Songpa residents can enjoy culture and the arts and lead enriched lives at any time."
