Dongjak-gu in Seoul will host a "Classical Orchestra Concert" with world-renowned conductor Geum Nan Sae on June 7 (Saturday) at 5:00 p.m. at the Han Kyungjik Memorial Hall of Soongsil University.
This concert will feature a performance by the 55-member New World Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductor Geum Nan Sae. Baritone Kim Jongpyo, bandoneon player Kim Jongwan, and guitarist Ji Ikhwan will join as guest performers, presenting a diverse 90-minute program.
The concert repertoire includes a medley of film scores from "Star Wars," opera arias performed with baritone Kim Jongpyo, Galliano's "Tango for Claude," as well as other classical masterpieces, film soundtrack pieces, and a movie music medley. Notably, before and after the concert, conductor Geum Nan Sae will provide easy and engaging explanations of the pieces, allowing even those unfamiliar with classical music to enjoy the performance without hesitation.
This concert will be open free of charge to approximately 1,200 Dongjak-gu residents and others. Those wishing to attend can apply on a first-come, first-served basis through the Dongjak-gu Office website's "Integrated Reservation System" starting at 2:00 p.m. on May 21. Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, stated, "I hope this performance will break the stereotype that classical music is difficult and provide an opportunity for many residents to communicate and empathize through music."
