Gyeonggi Province to Provide Up to 1.8 Million Won for Tumbler Washer Purchases at 50 Cafes

Gyeonggi Province will provide financial support for the purchase of tumbler washers at 50 cafes in the province to reduce the use of single-use products.

On May 21, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will implement the "Tumbler Washer Purchase Support Project" and will be recruiting participating cafes until June 20.

The support is available to independent cafes within the province, excluding franchise-owned stores. Selected cafes can receive support for 90% of the purchase cost of the washer, up to a maximum of 1.8 million won.

Selected cafes are required to operate the tumbler washer until next year and must also cooperate with Gyeonggi Province's resource circulation policies, such as "Gyeonggi Ongdalsaem" and "Climate Action Opportunity Income." If they fail to meet the mandatory operation conditions, the support funds may be reclaimed, and they may be excluded from similar Gyeonggi Province projects in the future.

Cafes wishing to participate in the project can apply after checking the details on the websites of Gyeonggi Province or Korea Gyeonggi-do Corporation.

Lee Yongyun, Director of Resource Circulation at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The distribution of tumbler washers is a practical first step to promote the use of tumblers and reduce single-use products," and added, "Gyeonggi Province will continue its efforts to make the use of reusable containers a natural part of daily life through the distribution of tumbler washers."
