Proposal of Key Projects Including Expansion of Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Facilities
On May 21, Sangcheong County announced that it had visited central government ministries to propose key projects in order to secure next year’s national budget.
Lee Seunghwa, Governor of Sangcheong County, along with relevant officials, visited the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to request support for major national projects and to explain the rationale and necessity for their implementation.
During a meeting with Lee Byunghwa, Vice Minister of Environment, the county proposed several key projects, including the expansion of municipal solid waste incineration facilities, the establishment of a recycling resource collection center, and the expansion of the rural village sewage system in the Oejeong district.

In addition, during a meeting with the Director General for Agricultural Innovation Policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the county requested the expansion of the Danseong Agricultural Machinery Rental Center to support farmers affected by wildfires. The county also proposed policy changes, such as the need to revise the Enforcement Rules of the Farmland Act, to facilitate the use of rural stay-type shelters as accommodations for foreign workers.
Next, during a meeting with the Director General for Natural Disaster Management at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the county requested the inclusion of national funding for natural disaster prevention and response projects, such as the comprehensive maintenance project for the Daepo district flood and storm damage zone, with a total project cost of 22.9 billion won, and the disaster risk zone maintenance project for the Jayang district.
Governor Lee stated, "I will do my utmost to ensure that major projects aimed at improving the safety and quality of life for county residents proceed smoothly, through close cooperation and prompt response with government ministries."
Meanwhile, the county plans to continue its response activities in line with the ministries’ budget planning schedules and will strengthen its cooperation system with local National Assembly members to make every effort to secure national and provincial funding.
