Performance Scheduled for June 12-15
Selected Work from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival
Daehakro Theater Quad, operated by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, will present the Asian premiere of the multidisciplinary performance "Concerned Others," a selection from the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, from June 12 to 15.
"Concerned Others" was chosen for the official showcase "Made in Scotland" at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The performance delicately yet powerfully depicts the pain and silence experienced by a community grappling with the social issue of drug addiction.
The play is set in Scotland, which has the highest drug-related mortality rate in Europe. The production is based on interviews with actual individuals who have experienced addiction, their families, and medical professionals. Audiences encounter a reality that has long been overlooked, expressed through a sensory visual language using a turntable stage that combines 32mm miniatures, box objects, micro projections, and soundscapes.
The production is directed by Alex Bird, co-artistic director of the Scottish theater company Tortoise in a Nutshell. Bird is recognized as a creator with an exceptional ability to convey social messages through visual theater. In 2013, Bird won the "Fringe First" award at the Edinburgh Fringe for "Feral." "Concerned Others" also received critical acclaim during its recent tours in the UK and Europe.
"Concerned Others" will be staged as part of the "2025 Quad Choice" program, which introduces outstanding domestic and international works to Korean audiences.
Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on weekdays, and at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on weekends. After the performance on June 12 and the 2:00 p.m. show on June 14, there will be an "Artist Talk" session where audiences can interact with the creative team.
Tickets can be reserved on the Daehakro Theater Quad website and Interpark Ticket.
