This inspection was carried out so that the APEC Planning Team could review in advance the docking infrastructure at Yeongilman Port, which will be used as auxiliary facilities for the summit, as well as nearby accommodations and transportation options. The day before, on May 19, they inspected key spaces such as the conference venue in Gyeongju City.

Present at the site were officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Jang Hojin, Co-Chair of the APEC Preparatory Committee and Special Advisor for Foreign Affairs and Security, as well as working-level staff from Pohang City and related maritime and fisheries agencies. They discussed facility improvements and future response plans.

In particular, they actively exchanged opinions on issues that may arise during actual operations, focusing on the feasibility of international cruise docking and the use of cruises as accommodations.

Based on the geographical advantages and docking conditions of Yeongilman Port, the city plans to enhance feasibility through close cooperation with central government agencies. At the same time, Pohang City is actively working to attract a "floating hotel" cruise, organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to accommodate approximately 2,000 businesspeople during the APEC Summit.

Son Jungho, Director of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Bureau, stated, "The APEC Summit is an opportunity for Pohang to emerge as an international convention city," adding, "We will successfully host this major national event and solidify our status as a global city."
