On May 20, Guri City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyunghyun) announced that it continues to pursue field-oriented administration by inspecting the sites of major completed projects from the 8th popularly elected administration's pledges, checking for any inconveniences experienced by citizens, and seeking improvement measures.

The 8th administration's pledged projects consist of 142 initiatives across 10 sectors, including "a city ideal for raising children" and "a city where all families are healthy." To date, 100 projects have been completed, resulting in a fulfillment rate of 70.4%.
This round of site inspections focused on major project sites closely related to citizens' daily lives. The inspections went beyond simply confirming completion, aiming to assess actual usability and satisfaction, and to identify areas for improvement from the citizens' perspective.
On May 19, Mayor Baek visited seven pledged project sites in Galmae-dong to check the operation status of the facilities and listen to feedback from the field. The projects inspected included: installation of bus bays near elementary schools; installation and expansion of eco-friendly bus stop shelters; establishment and operation of regional citizen health promotion centers; implementation of a smart healthcare system for the whole family; operation of healthcare programs exclusively for seniors; early completion of construction for the Galmae public sports facility; and the establishment of the Galmae Lifelong Learning Center.
Guri City plans to conduct a second round of visits on May 27 to four project sites in Donggu-dong and Gyomun 1-dong, and will sequentially inspect a total of 28 major pledged project sites to realize policies that citizens can tangibly experience.
In addition, Guri City is strengthening the substance of its pledged projects by not only completing them, but also holding quarterly "Completed Pledged Project Progress Report Meetings" and conducting ongoing follow-up management and improvements.
Mayor Baek Kyunghyun emphasized, "For pledged projects, it is more important for citizens to truly feel and be satisfied with the results than the act of implementation itself," adding, "We will continue to improve and supplement even completed projects through field-oriented administration to achieve tangible outcomes."
Meanwhile, Guri City received the highest SA grade for the second consecutive year, following 2024, in the "2025 National Local Government Head Pledge Implementation and Information Disclosure Evaluation" conducted by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters.
