The Gwangju Merchants Association has officially declared its full support for Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung.
On the 20th, the association held a press conference at the "Real Korea Gwangju Election Committee" office, stating, "Candidate Lee Jae-myung is a competent leader who understands the economy of ordinary people and can provide practical solutions," as they announced their endorsement.
The association evaluated Lee Jae-myung's policy pledges for small business owners as "practical alternatives that truly reflect the voices from the field." They emphasized that "long-term installment repayment programs, compensation for victims of illegal martial law, and the expansion of local currency are expected to inject new vitality into the stagnant local economy."
They also stated, "The current government's economy policy, centered on large corporations, has repeatedly sacrificed small business owners." They added, "Through this endorsement, we are confident that with the launch of the fourth democratic government, a transition to a 'society where everyone prospers together' will be possible."
The K-Beauty Professionals Association also publicly declared its support for candidate Lee Jae-myung on this day. They said, "What Korea needs right now is leadership proven by competence, not just words," adding, "We want to build a better Korea together with candidate Lee Jae-myung, a leader who can embrace people's lives and correct injustice."
Kim Mi, head of the Gwangju chapter of the K-Beauty Professionals Association and professor at Seoyoung University’s Department of Beauty and Cosmetology, stated, "The beauty industry has grown beyond simple aesthetics to become a core industry of K-culture and K-brand, and while it is an important future industry where countless young people nurture their dreams, young people and small beauty business owners are facing unstable conditions under the current economic and social circumstances." She emphasized, "Candidate Lee is a practical leader who understands the hardships of ordinary people better than anyone and is capable of implementing real policies."
Kim further stated, "The fair opportunities, youth jobs, and practical support policies for small business owners that candidate Lee has emphasized are messages of great hope for those in the beauty industry," adding, "We will continue to join candidate Lee on the path to advancing our industry and the future of Korea."
A total of 219 lawyers from the Gwangju Bar Association also joined the ranks of those declaring support for Lee Jae-myung. At a press conference held at the Gwangju City Council, they expressed their hope that Lee Jae-myung, who began as a child laborer, would be elected and realize a basic society where people can enjoy a humane life, put an end to internal strife, and, through judicial and prosecutorial reforms, ensure that citizens' constitutional rights are properly protected.
Kang Haengok, former president of the Gwangju Bar Association, stated, "The 219 lawyers of the Gwangju Bar Association will each become another Lee Jae-myung and devote ourselves wholeheartedly to helping him be elected president so that democracy in this country can be revived."
Meanwhile, Yang Bunam, head of the Gwangju election committee, said in his remarks, "So far, over 50 organizations have joined in declaring their support, and the support from the Gwangju Bar Association is especially significant." He added, "This declaration of support will play a decisive role in Lee's election and in achieving a 90% voter turnout and support rate in Gwangju."
