On May 20, Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) held an 'Integrity Promotion Team' report meeting in the City Hall's main conference room and shared 26 anti-corruption and integrity initiatives aimed at achieving a first-grade rating in the 2025 comprehensive integrity assessment. During the meeting, each department shared their respective tasks for improving areas vulnerable to corruption and establishing a culture of integrity.

The Integrity Promotion Team is led by Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu and consists of the Vice Mayor, directors of bureaus and offices, and the heads of 15 key departments related to integrity perception indicators. The 15 departments reported improvement tasks by sector, including corruption cases, personnel and organizational matters, taxation and finance, contract management, permits and licensing, subsidies, and civil complaint response.

For its main integrity initiatives in 2025, the city will promote: ▲establishing a civil complaint management manual for each department ▲strengthening integrity education for all employees ▲expanding the operation of mobile integrity communication schools ▲and forming and operating a public-private integrity practice council.

Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu emphasized, "Integrity is the foundation of administration and a promise to citizens," adding, "All employees must take the lead in realizing the value of integrity, breaking down barriers between departments."

Going forward, the city plans to continue gathering feedback from employees and civil petitioners (including information disclosure requests) through the Integrity Promotion Team, and to enhance the effectiveness of its initiatives in order to raise the overall level of integrity in the public sector.

Meanwhile, Suncheon City achieved a second-grade rating for two consecutive years in the 2024 comprehensive integrity assessment by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, ranking first in integrity among the five cities in South Jeolla Province.
