'912 Members' Jeonnam Childcare Center Association Declares Support for Lee Jaemyung

The Jeonnam Childcare Center Association, which has 912 childcare centers as members, declared its support for Lee Jaemyung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, on the 20th.

On the morning of the same day, the Jeonnam Childcare Center Association announced its declaration of support at the Boseong Cultural Center in Jeonnam, with Chairman Park Sangseon and other members in attendance.

In their declaration, they stated, "As childcare professionals who dream of tomorrow in the laughter and eyes of children, we feel an urgent sense that the Republic of Korea is once again standing at a crossroads of democracy," and added, "Yoon Sukyeol's 12·3 martial law declaration was an illegal and unconstitutional act, a shocking event that recalls the pain of the violence and massacre perpetrated by state power in Gwangju in May 1980."

They continued, "Regarding such acts of rebellion, conservative forces are not reflecting or apologizing at all. Instead, they are using judicial and administrative power to undermine democracy," emphasizing, "A true Republic of Korea is desperately needed to raise children properly, and if the childcare field does not stand firm, the future of the country is also at risk."

They also stated, "Candidate Lee Jaemyung has proven his achievements in various childcare, welfare, and education policies, including establishing the framework for universal welfare in Korea as mayor of Seongnam and governor of Gyeonggi Province," and declared, "For the restoration of democracy and the future of children, 10,000 childcare professionals of the Jeonnam Childcare Center Association declare their support for candidate Lee Jaemyung."

Lee Gaeho, chairman of the Kkumsanism Committee of the Democratic Party’s election committee, who attended the declaration, said in his greeting, "To raise children properly, a true Republic of Korea is desperately needed. The establishment of practical policies such as strengthening the public nature of childcare, guaranteeing the labor rights of childcare staff, and alleviating the childcare burden on parents is an urgent demand of the times that can no longer be delayed," and added, "I will do my best to communicate actively with the Jeonnam Childcare Center Association and to develop policies that can overcome the difficulties in the childcare environment."

Meanwhile, participants in the declaration included Lee Gaeho, chairman of the Kkumsanism Committee, Kim Kyungyeol, chairman of the Boseong County Council, Jeon Nam-do council members Kim Jaecheol and Park Hyunsook, as well as Park Sangseon, chairman of the Jeonnam Childcare Center Association, and about 20 directors.
