From Major Design to Employment Mentoring
A Student-Led Career and Employment Exploration Platform
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) successfully hosted the '2025 Student Success VISION FAIR' from May 14 to 15 at the 2nd floor of the New Millennium Hall and the outdoor deck, jointly organized by the Major Design Support Center and the University Job Plus Center.
This event was part of the University Innovation Support Project and was organized in response to the implementation of the Major Autonomous Selection System. Its goals were to help students explore majors and set career paths, to prevent students from leaving their majors through better understanding of major-related job functions, and to strengthen practical employment competencies through various mentoring sessions with professionals. The fair consisted of three zones: the Major Zone, the Employment Zone, and the Promotion Zone. It was designed as a one-stop career platform, enabling students to explore majors, gather employment information, and receive policy guidance all in one place.
The Major Zone featured participation from a total of 35 departments. Activities included one-on-one major counseling with academic advising professors, hands-on major practice experiences, and specialized programs for each major. At the major experience booths, where actual practice equipment was used, each department introduced its representative educational content and allowed students to directly experience the core skills and career directions that could be learned in each field.
On May 14, the Employment Zone hosted one-on-one mentoring sessions with professionals from 15 large corporations and public institutions, including SSG’s recruitment briefing and HUG (Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation), under the theme 'Companies Dreamed of by Youth.' On May 15, under the theme 'Companies That Attract Youth' for nurturing local talent, recruitment briefings were held by five companies including Chokwang Yoturn, and mentoring sessions were provided by 12 youth-friendly small but strong companies including Binex, as well as excellent companies from Busan.
In particular, a special lecture by a Dongseo University graduate currently working at a UN-affiliated organization drew significant attention. The graduate shared an honest account of their career exploration process and journey to employment at an international organization, offering meaningful advice and career motivation to current students.
In the Promotion Zone, booths from the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, the University Job Plus Center’s Work-Study Dual Training Center, and the K-Move Project Group provided information on youth employment policies and student-tailored programs. Activities such as personal color diagnosis and caricature experiences were also offered, sparking students’ interest and energizing the career exploration process. In addition, the University Job Plus Center of Dong-A University, a member of the Glocal University 30 Consortium, participated to help create a promotional platform for local youth.
Jeong Do-un, Director of Student Employment Support at Dongseo University, stated, "This fair was organized as a comprehensive career platform where students can explore majors, design career paths, and prepare for employment all at once," adding, "We will continue to provide tailored career and employment programs to support the successful futures of each student and foster local talent who will settle in the region."
Approximately 3,000 Dongseo University students, alumni, and local youth participated in the 2025 Student Success VISION FAIR. The event established itself as a signature program of Dongseo University, enabling students to independently explore their majors and career paths and plan for their futures, and concluded with an enthusiastic response.
