Pocheon City Improves Housing Environment for Low-Income Residents
Through Public-Private Cooperation
Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyun) announced on May 20 that it is implementing the 'G-Housing Project,' which realizes residential welfare by connecting private resources and talents without using its own budget.

The 'G-Housing Project' is an initiative that helps improve the residential environment of low-income and marginalized neighbors. It covers not only the renovation of key living spaces such as bathrooms, kitchens, and living rooms, but also customized repairs based on residents' requests. Households eligible for support are those with an income at or below 70% of the median income standard.
Pocheon City carried out the 'G-Housing Project' on May 18. The project was supported and carried out by the Pocheon Regional Architects Association (President Ha Eunguk), the Pocheon Lions Club (President Kim Jooyoung), and the Pocheon Love Sharing Association (President Kim Seungjin). A total of 4 million won worth of materials and professional skills were provided.
The beneficiaries of the residential improvement were a household with a disabled recipient in Naechon-myeon and a residential facility for people with developmental disabilities in Sinbuk-myeon. For the recipient's house in Naechon-myeon, a sink was installed, drainage work was carried out, wallpaper was replaced in the master bedroom, and flooring was changed. In the welfare facility for people with disabilities in Sinbuk-myeon, a sink will be installed to create a space for independent living training for people with developmental disabilities.
This welfare facility operates practice-based programs (such as cooking, laundry, and cleaning) to support the deinstitutionalization and independence of people with developmental disabilities, making the facility improvements even more meaningful.
A Pocheon City official stated, "The G-Housing Project is an exemplary welfare case that realizes residential welfare through private sector participation and cooperation, without any budget expenditure," and added, "We will continue to collaborate with various private organizations to build a warm and caring welfare city."
Meanwhile, on May 19, Pocheon City held the 'May Angel Day Donation Ceremony' in the city administration meeting room. At the event, private organizations such as the Pocheon Regional Architects Association and the Pocheon Lions Club donated project funds for improving the residential environment of vulnerable groups, reaffirming the significance of public-private cooperation.
