A welcome event and scholarship award ceremony for freshmen from Gaya High School who entered universities in the Seoul metropolitan area was held at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of May 15.
The event was hosted by the Gaya High School Alumni Association in Seoul, organized by the alumni mentor group, and sponsored by the BNB Scholarship Foundation. With more than 50 alumni in attendance, a mentor-matching ceremony and a scholarship award ceremony were held for seven freshmen of the 71st class who entered universities in the Seoul area.
Six students attended the event: Kim Yeeun (Korea Aerospace University), Son Jueun and Yoon Sungho (Kyung Hee University), Lee Arin (Chung-Ang University), Jeon Seungho (Seoul National University of Science and Technology), and Han Jeongan (Hanyang University). Jeon Soyoon, who entered Sogang University, was unable to attend due to academic commitments.
Koo Kyungyeol, Chairman of the BNB Scholarship Foundation, and alumni from the Gaya High School in Seoul who received scholarships posed in front of the camera.
Their mentors were alumni Han Sangyun (31st class), Koo Minji (53rd class), Park Sungha (32nd class), Kim Yongseong (26th class), Jung Pilseung (32nd class), and Woo Byunghyun (29th class). The seven freshmen were selected as scholarship recipients by the Seoul Alumni Association and the BNB Scholarship Foundation, each receiving a scholarship of 1 million won.
Ten current university students from the Seoul area who attended the event also received special scholarships. The recipients were Kim Jiseon, Lee Seunghyun, and Hong Yujin (all 67th class), Jung Yoon (68th class), Kim Yubin, Park Sejeong, An Minkyeong, Lee Seonwoo, Jung Dain, and Hong Yeyoung (all 70th class), each receiving 500,000 won.
Song Nangeun, President of the Seoul Alumni Association (29th class), said, "Congratulations on your arrival in Seoul," and added, "The alumni community is ready to support you." Kim Changryong, head of the alumni mentor group (29th class), stated, "Mentoring and scholarship donations are investments in society." Park Hyungjun, principal of Gaya High School, commented, "Thanks to the seniors serving as beacons, juniors can move forward without fear."
In celebration of Teachers' Day, carnations were presented to Park Hyungjun, principal of Gaya High School, as well as former principals Kim Hwajeong and Kim Gyeongdu, who attended the event. The event was fully sponsored by Koo Kyungyeol, Chairman of the BNB Scholarship Foundation (26th class), and was hosted by announcer Yoon Jihyang (48th class).
