The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced on May 20 that, together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, it will hold the "China Silver Industry Targeted Global Healthcare Roadshow" in Beijing, China, for four days starting from May 20. This event aims to support the entry of domestic companies into the rapidly growing Chinese silver industry market, which is expanding due to the country's transition into an aging society, and to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
On the first day of the event, a "Global Partnering Day" was held to facilitate exchanges with local bio and medical buyers. In addition, until May 23, a Korea Pavilion will be set up at the China International Elderly Care Service Expo to intensively promote products from domestic companies.
According to KOTRA, the size of China's silver industry market exceeded 12 trillion yuan (approximately 2,280 trillion won) last year, and is expected to reach 30 trillion yuan (approximately 5,700 trillion won) by 2035. In particular, the Chinese government recently announced a policy to foster "smart elderly care," which includes smart health, care robots, and advanced rehabilitation assistive devices, further expanding related demand.
This roadshow is jointly organized with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute's China office, the Global Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Association, and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products. The program includes the Korea-China Silver Industry Cooperation Forum, an IR session for promising biotech companies, and one-on-one export consultations.
Hwang Jaewon, Head of KOTRA's China Regional Headquarters, stated, "China's silver industry is experiencing rapid growth in market demand alongside policy support, offering significant opportunities for Korean companies, especially in the digital healthcare sector." He added, "We will continue to provide customized local support to expand exports to China."
