According to the city on May 20, this inspection was carried out swiftly as a joint effort between the Architecture Division and the Disaster Safety Division. The purpose was to ensure the safety of citizens and alleviate public anxiety, following a series of accidents in which construction site fences were toppled by recent strong winds.

The inspection targeted 18 construction sites with a total floor area of 660 square meters or more, which began construction after January 1, 2023. The inspection focused on the installation status and compliance with safety standards for various temporary facilities at construction sites, including temporary fences, work scaffolding, and formwork.

The city worked to prevent safety accidents not only for citizens but also for construction workers through this inspection. In addition, the city distributed self-inspection checklists containing essential on-site safety rules and additional safety guidelines for scaffolding work to construction site personnel, aiming to raise safety awareness.

Mayor Lee Haksoo stated, "Protecting the lives and safety of our citizens remains the city’s unwavering top priority," and emphasized, "Do not overlook even the smallest risk factors discovered during inspections, and take all necessary measures promptly and thoroughly."

The city plans to continue monitoring sites where risk factors were identified through follow-up inspections and will work to eliminate safety blind spots through close cooperation with relevant agencies and private safety experts.

Going forward, the city will continue to strengthen regular safety inspections and proactive preventive activities to create a safe urban environment where citizens can live with peace of mind.
