Hyundai Rotem's Firefighting Robot Draws Attention
Fire Safety Company Job Fair to Be Held
The largest fire safety industry exhibition in Korea, the 'Fire & Safety Expo Korea 2025', will be held at Daegu EXCO for three days from May 28 to May 30.
This year marks the 21st edition of the expo, which is co-hosted by the National Fire Agency and Daegu Metropolitan City, and organized by EXCO, the Korea Fire Institute, the Korea Fire Industry Association, KOTRA, and the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership. The event will take place in the 30,000-square-meter EXCO exhibition hall, featuring 427 companies and 1,521 booths, making it the largest in the expo's history.
This year's expo will showcase advanced fire safety technologies and disaster response solutions across various sectors, including smart fire safety technology, personal protective equipment, unmanned firefighting robots and drones, firefighting vehicles, and construction and fire safety facilities.
In the Smart Fire Safety Technology Hall, Hyundai Rotem will unveil its unmanned firefighting robot 'HR-SHERPA'. Based on electrification technology, this robot can be operated remotely and autonomously, providing rapid response in fire sites where human rescue is difficult.
Additionally, TXR Robotics' fire suppression robot is equipped to enter hazardous areas containing flammable and toxic substances, assisting firefighting personnel. The AI-based automatic fire suppression system also draws attention. Hyundai Infracore's 'ALPHA SHOT' utilizes infrared detection and signal processing technology to automatically begin suppression within 30 seconds of fire detection, and sends emergency notifications to both administrators and fire stations to enable swift response.
This expo will feature not only domestic but also prominent participation from fire safety companies worldwide. Leading global companies such as Norafin from Germany (fire-resistant fiber technology), Cosem from Singapore (fire safety and disaster prevention solutions), Padtex from Latvia (development of high-quality fire-resistant materials), and AUTO FIREX from the United Kingdom (automatic fire suppression systems) will present their innovative technologies.
More than 200 overseas buyers will participate in the export consultation sessions, and high-ranking officials from fire agencies in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, and other countries will visit the expo. They are expected to engage in in-depth discussions on exchanges and cooperation with the Korean fire safety industry.
During the expo, the 'Fire Safety Job Fair' will also be held to nurture talent for the fire safety industry. One-on-one job consultations and company presentations will be arranged between students majoring in fire safety-related fields and companies, contributing to resolving employment and recruitment challenges in the fire safety sector.
In addition, a 'Customized Buyer Curation Tour', matched in advance through pre-event research, will be operated to help participants gain a deeper understanding of products and technologies in their areas of interest.
Throughout the exhibition period, a variety of seminars and conferences will be held to promote the advancement of fire safety technology and policy. The Fire Protection News (FPN) will host a fire technology conference inviting major construction companies to discuss ways to bridge the gap between construction fire safety regulations and technology, while the National Fire Research Institute will hold a forum on mid- to long-term plans for emergency medical research. Other programs will include a conference by the Construction Fire Technology Council, a policy debate by the National Fire Agency's Emergency Response Control Team, the Spring Academic Conference and Clinical Workshop of the Emergency Medical Society, and more.
Cha Hyukkwan, Executive Vice President of EXCO, stated, "Due to the recent wildfires in the Gyeongsangbuk-do region, social interest in fire safety and technology development has significantly increased. I would like to express my gratitude for the dedication of fire safety professionals, and I hope this Fire Safety Expo will serve as a turning point for further advancement of the fire safety industry."
