Intellectual Discovery, the nation's first patent management specialist company (NPE), announced on May 20 that it has signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) with Polaris Office to establish an IP-based technology investment ecosystem utilizing artificial intelligence (AI).

This agreement aims to combine Intellectual Discovery's expertise in patent evaluation and investment with Polaris Office's document-based AI analysis technology. The collaboration will focus on multiple models, including generating global revenue through IP licensing, expanding technology-driven venture investments, operating IP direct investment funds, and supporting knowledge property-based finance and recovery.

In particular, Polaris Office is developing a document analysis solution called 'AskDoc,' which will be used to preemptively identify companies with strong technological competitiveness through precise analysis of vast amounts of patent and academic paper data. Based on these analysis results, Intellectual Discovery plans to promote both direct and indirect IP investments to accelerate the industrialization of high value-added technologies and their entry into global markets.

Intellectual Discovery employs a team of experts, including IP professionals, patent attorneys, lawyers, and venture capital reviewers. Since being selected in 2020 as an IP direct investment fund manager by Korea Fund of Funds, the company has successfully managed a fund of approximately 60 billion KRW, expanding investments in technology-driven startups such as Tomocube, FuriosaAI, and PhantomAI.

Additionally, through patent negotiations with global companies such as Nokia and Ericsson, Intellectual Discovery has demonstrated the value of domestic technology, achieving approximately 20 billion KRW in license revenue and showing competitiveness in international negotiations.

A representative from Intellectual Discovery stated, "This agreement will maximize the synergy between AI-based data analysis and IP finance, providing a more sophisticated technology evaluation and investment foundation for the domestic startup ecosystem. We will continue to establish an integrated support system for the early identification of outstanding technology companies, IP industrialization and assetization, and the strengthening of global competitiveness."

Meanwhile, Intellectual Discovery plans to leverage group-level liquidity participation from Polaris Office to build a virtuous cycle structure that connects technology verification, investment execution, and profit recovery, focusing on creating tangible value for intellectual property as a national strategic asset.
