Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul (Mayor Lee Pilhyung) held the final presentation event for the '2025 Generative AI Challenge' on May 16.
This challenge was designed as a practical competition where public officials seek solutions to real-life inconveniences and concerns they experience in their work by utilizing generative AI.
Out of 16 ideas covering areas such as civil service response, meetings, audits, expenditures, contracts, data utilization, and project planning, six teams advanced to the finals.
The final judging panel consisted of members from the 'AI Dongdaemun Innovation Committee' as well as experts in generative AI education. At the event, employees responded positively with comments such as "I want to implement this in our department right away," and "Please share it quickly." The presentation by the grand prize-winning team was met with applause and exclamations of admiration.
The grand prize went to the YOONIQUE team, who presented 'Meat-Kit (Meeting Preparation Automation Program)'. They developed a program based on ChatGPT that automatically generates various forms required for meetings with just one click, dramatically reducing meeting preparation time.
The top excellence award was given to the CheonjeongoAI team for their paperless smart meeting system. The excellence awards went to the AI Gamsahamnida team for their pre-audit manager and contract secretary bot, and to the AInovators team. The encouragement awards were given to the DMZ team and the Ieum team for proposing a new business consultant and expenditure chatbot, respectively. The prize money awarded to each team was 1.5 million won for the grand prize, 1 million won for the top excellence award, 800,000 won for the excellence awards, and 450,000 won for the encouragement awards.
The district plans to quickly implement the winning ideas that can be immediately applied in the field of administration. Through this, they hope to establish an execution-oriented organizational culture where generative AI-based innovation does not remain just as ideas, but leads to real implementation.
Lee Pilhyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, "Administrative change begins with employees' awareness of small problems, but its effects are felt first by residents. When internal work becomes more efficient, the quality of public services improves and information delivery becomes more transparent. Dongdaemun-gu will continue to lead AI-based administrative innovation to create governance that residents can trust."
The 'Generative AI Challenge', which began with a special lecture in March and ran for about 60 days, saw a total of 45 participants form teams and develop their ideas. The participants continued AI utilization experiments through expert mentoring and produced results that could be applied to real-world tasks.
