On May 19 (local time), at the Greystone Golf & Country Club (par 72) in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, Yang recorded two birdies and one bogey over the remaining four holes of the final fourth round of the PGA Tour Champions Regions Tradition (total prize money: $2.6 million). After five days of fierce competition, his final result was a season-best third place (18-under-par 270). Earlier this year, he finished fourth at the Hoag Classic and tied for fourth at the Insperity Invitational.

Prior to the suspension of the fourth round due to inclement weather and sunset the previous day, Yang had played 14 holes at three-under-par, holding third place by one stroke. Although a come-from-behind victory was anticipated, there were not enough holes left to catch up. Yang achieved his first senior tour victory at last year’s Ascension Charity Classic.

Angel Cabrera (Argentina) added two-under-par over the remaining three holes to secure a one-stroke victory (20-under-par 268). This marks his second career win on the senior tour since last month’s James Hardy Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational, earning him a winner’s prize of $390,000 (approximately 540 million won).

Cabrera is an Argentine golf hero who won the Masters Tournament in 2009. After serving a two-year and four-month prison sentence for domestic violence and theft convictions in 2021, he was released in August 2023. Jerry Kelly (USA) finished second (19-under-par 269), Steven Alker (New Zealand) placed fourth (17-under-par 271), and Choi Kyungju tied for fifth (15-under-par 273).
