The novel "There, the Wolf Comes" is set in a near-future Korean Peninsula, where the end is imminent due to the climate crisis and political conflict. The land is covered in white snowfields and the population has drastically declined. The story follows six young people, each from one of three regions?Amnok River, Han River, and the southern coast?who have established different political and economic systems. These youths cross boundaries and develop deep feelings for one another.

Minumsa explained, "The judges praised the work for discovering and illuminating the meaning of the Korean Peninsula from the perspective of the future, rather than being bound by historical events that have already occurred or current political conflicts."

Kang Eun Yoon, who studied creative writing at Dongguk University, said, "The most thrilling moment while writing a novel is when I can no longer control the story," adding, "I want to let the novel run wild."

The prize money is 30 million won. The winning work will be published within the year as part of the "Today's Young Writer" series. The acceptance speech and judges' comments will be featured in the early June issue of the literary magazine "Littor."

This year marks the first time the Today's Writer Award has returned to the open competition format for full-length novels. The award, established in 1977, originally operated as a full-length novel competition, but from 2015, the winner was chosen from works published during the year. This year, the award has returned to the competition format.
