Jeonnam Office of Education and Teachers' Union Reach Agreement on '2025 Policy Council'

Agreement Reached on 43 Agenda Items... Restoration of Teachers' Duties
Superintendent Kim Daejung: "A Turning Point for Jeonnam Education"

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education and the Jeonnam Teachers' Labor Union held the '2025 Policy Council Signing Ceremony' in the small conference room of the provincial office on the 19th, reaching a final agreement on 43 agenda items, including restoring teachers' core duties and protecting educational activities.


The signing ceremony was attended by Superintendent Kim Daejung, Chairman Kim Sinan, and representatives from both labor and management, who shared the outcomes of the policy negotiations and discussed future avenues for cooperation.

Through these negotiations, labor and management agreed on 43 provisions that reflect the voices of teachers in the field, including the restoration and improvement of teachers' core duties and treatment, reduction of school administrative workload, protection of educational activities, and the enhancement of on-site experiential learning programs. In particular, the negotiation process focused on thoroughly reflecting field conditions and devising practical measures to protect educational activities, leading to in-depth discussions.


Superintendent Kim Daejung stated, "This policy agreement is more than a simple labor-management accord; it marks a new turning point for Jeonnam education, created together by teachers and the education office. I hope that a virtuous cycle, where field opinions are reflected in policy, will lead to student-centered and teacher-happiness-oriented education." He added, "With a spirit of communication and respect, we will work with teachers to realize Glocal Jeonnam Education that leads K-Edu," pledging continued cooperation.


Chairman Kim Sinan also remarked, "This signing ceremony marks the starting point for teachers' voices, who are dedicated to Jeonnam education, to be substantively reflected in educational policy. I hope the results of this policy consultation will become a stepping stone to open a hopeful future for Jeonnam education."


The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education and the Jeonnam Teachers' Labor Union plan to continue regular consultations based on mutual trust and to work together to improve teachers' working conditions and enhance the quality of education.
