In the men's weekly world golf rankings announced on May 18 (local time), he received 1.1248 points, jumping 45 spots from 164th last week. He claimed victory at the Conperi (second-tier) Tour event of the PGA Tour, held at Blue Hills Country Club (par 72, 7,383 yards) in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Securing his first win on the second-tier tour, he earned a winner's prize of $180,000 (approximately 250 million won).
Kim Sunghyun was promoted to the PGA Tour after finishing 12th in the points rankings on the Conperi Tour in 2022. Last year, he ranked 130th in the PGA Tour FedEx Cup standings, so this year he is competing on the Conperi Tour. With one win and four top-10 finishes this season, he now leads the points rankings, making his promotion to the regular tour next year almost certain.
Major tournament PGA Championship winner Scottie Scheffler (USA), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), and Xander Schauffele (USA) maintained their positions in the top three. Bryson DeChambeau (USA), a LIV Golf member who tied for second at the PGA Championship, climbed five spots to 10th. Among Korean players, Im Sungjae is ranked 21st, An Byeonghun is 43rd, and Kim Joohyung is 45th. Kim Siwoo, who tied for eighth at the PGA Championship, rose seven spots to 59th. Eom Jaewoong, the previous day's SK Telecom Open champion on the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Tour, soared from 562nd to 366th.
