Discussion on Prompt Accident Recovery and Measures to Prevent Recurrence
Chairman Shin Sujeong of Gwangju City Council, along with Ahn Pyeonghwan and other members of the Administrative and Autonomy Committee, visited the Kumho Tire fire site on the afternoon of the 19th to hear about the damage situation and discuss prompt accident recovery and follow-up measures. Chairman Shin Sujeong of the Gwangju City Council, along with the Administrative and Autonomy Committee (Chairman Ahn Pyeonghwan), visited the fire site at Kumho Tire's Second Plant on the afternoon of the 19th.
Chairman Ahn Pyeonghwan and other members of the Administrative and Autonomy Committee visited Kumho Tire's Second Plant in Songjeong-dong, Gwangsan-gu, where the fire occurred, to hear explanations about the firefighting activities and the extent of the damage. They also discussed prompt accident recovery and follow-up measures.
This fire incident occurred when sparks ignited from an oven device inside the compounding factory, where basic tire materials are mixed. As a result, one factory employee and two firefighters were injured.
Chairman Ahn Pyeonghwan stated, "I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the company officials and workers affected by this fire, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery." He added, "The city council will do its utmost to ensure that there are no shortcomings in preventing a recurrence and in post-accident management."
