On May 19, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Commissioner Oh Yoo-kyung) announced that it had discovered that the food manufacturing and processing company 'Hyundai Food System Co., Ltd.' (located in Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do) had violated the Act on Labeling and Advertising of Foods, etc. by falsely indicating the manufacturing times of ready-to-eat foods such as lunchboxes, sandwiches, and hamburgers. The ministry requested administrative action and filed a complaint with the relevant local government.
According to the inspection, the company falsely labeled the manufacturing times of lunchboxes, sandwiches, and hamburgers produced at 2 p.m. as if they had been manufactured at 7 p.m. on the same day.
At the time of the inspection, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety seized 1,822 units of the offending products that the company was storing for delivery to convenience stores (Seven Eleven). The six types of seized products were 'Matjangwoo Lunchbox Tongdeungsim Donkatsu & Kimchi Jeyuk,' 'Matjangwoo Matjarang Jikhwa Dakgalbi,' 'Jeil Matjip Lunchbox,' 'Ham Deumpok Cheese Sand,' 'Dakgaseumsal Ham Deumpok Sand,' and 'Ultra Double Big Bulgogi Burger.'
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety stated, "We will continue to thoroughly manage food manufacturing and sales to prevent false or exaggerated labeling or advertising. We are committed to creating a safe food environment by taking strict action against illegal activities."
