The Department of Liberal Arts at Sahmyook University announced on May 20 that it has introduced the "AA (Academic Advisor) Professor Counseling System."
This system is a tailored support framework in which a dedicated professor provides regular one-on-one counseling sessions for students who are struggling with choosing a major or planning their career paths.
The core of the system is to comprehensively analyze each student's academic tendencies, aptitudes, and interests, connect them to suitable majors and career paths, and link them to extracurricular programs such as internships, PBL (Project-Based Learning), and student exchange programs.
The AA professor (dedicated professor) conducts counseling sessions with each student at least twice per semester, either in person or online. When necessary, students are also connected to specialized departments such as their major department or the university's student counseling center.
Kim Yongseon, head of the Department of Liberal Arts, explained, "Students in the Department of Liberal Arts, who have a wide range of major options, often experience confusion when setting their direction. The AA counseling system focuses on designing an optimal career roadmap tailored to each individual."
Yoon Seongbin, a student who has experienced the counseling system, said, "As someone interested in working abroad, my professor introduced me to an overseas employment training program. Thanks to the counseling, I was able to establish a clear career direction."
Meanwhile, the Department of Liberal Arts at Sahmyook University is currently conducting both student satisfaction surveys and academic performance analyses regarding the counseling system, as part of its efforts to further enhance the program.
